Slovenian IP Office joins Seniority

Slovenia the fifth national office to implement the Seniority Project

Slovenia joins Ireland, Hungary, Portugal and the Czech Republic in implementation.

Eleven national offices are set to implement the project this year, with further intents to implement also indicated.

Having accurate seniority data is important for Community trade mark owners who have previously registered an identical mark in an EU member state which has been surrendered or allowed to lapse.
A seniority claim allows CTM owners to continue to have the same rights within the member state they would have had if the earlier trade mark had continued to be registered.

The project, a part of OHIM´s Cooperation Fund, involves establishing links between entries in the national and Community databases and making the information accessible online.
