Forecasting tool goes live

OHIMThe new common tool, a result of five years of research into forecasting systems, provides participating IP Offices with a better understanding about the underlying factors behind the evolution of trade marks and designs filings. It will support strategic planning and the optimal allocation of resources  of  participating Offices.

‘Forecasting’ has been developed thanks to the collaboration of the Trade Mark Offices of Denmark, Spain, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom and OHIM, together with experts from the Polytechnic University of Madrid from the fields of data-mining, econometrics and industrial property. It will be implemented by 17 participating IP Offices across the European Trade Mark and Design Network. The European Patent Office participated actively in the project as observer.

The Cooperation Fund, set up in 2010, builds state of the art, user-friendly tools and solutions for EU IP Offices and individual users worldwide.

The EU Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights, entrusted to OHIM, is a network of experts and specialist stakeholders, established to promote and support intellectual property value.
